Why you need to hire a coach

Hiring a personal trainer to help you on your fitness journey could be one of the best decisions you make. There are several things you should know before you make the decision. As personal trainers, we have committed years of study and self reflection to better ourselves for you!

When you hire a personal trainer you are paying for a multitude of benefits. Here are some of the biggest perks you are getting:

  • Expertise. Any good trainer has passed a rigorous examination to get a certificate from an accredited organization. My certificate as a trainer is from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). ACSM is the world’s leading institute for research into exercise science. When you hire a trainer, you are getting access to the best knowledge as it relates to health and physical performance.

  • Considerations for your safety. A good trainer is there to push you and help you break through barriers. Smashing a new one-rep maximum on the power clean is exhilarating to be sure. We’re there to celebrate with you. But, we are also there for your safety. We do our best to make sure your form and technique are accurate. A good trainer will provide feedback that limits the risk of injury. Your safety is our first priority.

  • Accountability. Look, life gets busy sometimes. It can be hard to maintain your gym streak when life gets in the way. A good trainer will help you put guardrails in place that keep your program from getting derailed. But it’s a two-way street. The trainer is there to help but it takes dedication from you too. A good working relationship involves motivation from both parties.

  • An advocate for you. Having a hand in other’s success is one of life’s great joys. As trainers, what we want more than anything else is for you to be successful in achieving your health goals. We are there to help and guide you along the way. A little ‘tough love’ may be in order but it’s because we want to see you succeed.

  • Personalized programming. A good trainer will have an open and honest discussion with you about where you currently are and where you hope to go. A client-centered approach is the best way to create lasting success. A good trainer will consider your background, injury and health status, and create a program that suits your needs.

  • Fun! Exercise doesn’t have to be monotonous. Good trainers know how to toe the line between too easy and overly intense. They know how to keep the programming fresh and ensure that you stay motivated and having fun.
